I was admitted as an "emergency" to Ward E1. Whilst on this ward the patient care was excellent and I was kept informed regarding my situation and treatment. The Consultant and Doctors were also extremely excellent in their treatment and communication.
However, when I was moved to E2 I cannot say the treatment on the ward was the same. I did not receive my medication when I should have done when first moved. I was horrified to witness tensions between certain staff, mostly after handover at night. I do not expect staff to be arguing between themselves on the ward in front of patients.
After surgery my fluid bag was not put on to a drip, it was in bed with myself. I was also under the impression the drugs trolley should be locked if a nurse was walking away from it off the ward, when I was there this rarely happened.
Furthermore, I witnessed an elderly patient in the bed next to me being spoken to in what I felt was a disgraceful manner overnight. She was told she could not have an extra blanket because she was cold as she already had 4. This is unacceptable treatment of a senior citizen.
