"Reassurance, comfort and compassion"

About: wishaw General hospital - paediatric unit

(as a parent/guardian),

My son, age 9, was admitted to ward 19 and transferred to ward 20 in Wishaw General hospital, with appendicitis. He subsequently underwent an appendectomy under general anaesthetic and is Well on his way to making his recovery.

I would like to thank all staff for their professionalism and kindness shown to our family and for the excellent care my son received.

I would like to say a special thank you: to surgical staff, Ross, Mr Downie, Mr Bryce and a female surgeon who's name I cannot recall; to anaesthetic staff Mr Bruce and a lady? Elaine; to all nursing staff but especially Pamela, Aileen and Laura.

You all made a very worrying time bearable with your reassurance, comfort and compassion. Thank you.

What could be improved? A bit more detailed communication re surgery.

Dear Mg2509

Thank you for getting in touch regarding your experience within the Paediatric Unit at Wishaw General Hospital. It is nice to get positive feedback around services provided to patients. I will pass your kind words onto the Paediatric Team to allow them to share your thanks with all the staff, and ensure they are aware of your suggestion around improving communication with regard to surgery.

I am pleased to hear your son is making a good recovery.

Kind regards

Kathryn
