My mum has a hearing aid which, to be honest, has never worked properly since the day she got it. Since she was fitted with it, it has whistled and buzzed constantly. After attending our local hearing aid clinic many times, she was told as she was so profoundly hard of hearing and the hearing aid was so powerful, she would need to put up with it. It was so bad one day, we decided to attend Stonehouse open access clinic which was open on Thursday afternoon. Myself and my mum were amazed. The staff were absolutely amazing. So caring and helpful. The nurse who dealt with my mum was brilliant. She didnt stop until the problem was fixed, and for the first time in years my mum could hear properly and not a whistle to be heard. Even though my mum and I were delighted she still referred her to a senior audiologist to see if they could improve her hearing further. By the time we left, my mum was nearly in tears as she could actually hear without a racket coming from her hearing aid for the first time in years. I cannot thank this person enough. at this clinic they clearly understand how important and debilitating it is not to be able to hear. I wish I could remember the nurses name but she is a gem and a credit to the hospital. This is how it should be. Fantastic.
