About: Victoria Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I visited the Gastroenterology unit at the Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy. I was in good time for my appointment. Each member of staff that I met was kind, respectful and treated me with dignity at every step of the procedure.

I was informed each step of the way what the procedure would be.

I have been informed of the outcome. All being well I shall have a further appointment for colonoscopy in 3 years. Thank you to each and all of you.

Nurses Amanda, Adele, Suzie & Ashley & I apologise for anyone whose name I have missed. You were fantastic even with all my "Ooohing and Ahh-ing " during the procedure.

No wonder my blood pressure was back to normal - thankfully-after the procedure. What a team! Thank you

(Could there be an alternative to the Moviprep Solution prior to the appointment? )

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback about your recent colonoscopy procedure. It sounds like our staff supported you well throughout and have made this a positive experience for you. I will certainly pass on your kind words to Adele, Amanda, Suzie, Ashley and the rest of our staff.

I agree that the Moviprep is not pleasant to take and there are alternatives, however we find that it is the solution that gives the best result in preparing the bowel for the test. I understand that you can add some fruit cordial to the solution (not blackcurrant as it can stain the bowel) or if it is chilled it can make it more palatable to take.

Thanks Gill your response is very positive and re: the Moviprep very realistic. I took the time to give the feedback in the first instance mainly because I believe in giving positive feedback especially when it is really appropriate. I feel that very often if not always what "hits our national news" is often negative and to a great extent not helpful at all for all round morale.
