My little boy had an accident coming out of nursery and was non weight bearing, luckily the nursery is next door to a gp surgery and they were happy to advise. the gp recommended he be seen at A&E. First visit as a parent as I was at ease throughout the whole experience. Arrived at reception and was quickly taken through for assessment by the nurse, my little boy was not keen to go through as he had been playing with a toy - not a problem take the toy with you she said. She had a great way with my son and he allowed her to have a look. The nurse completed a full assessment and also administered pain relief. Next up was the doctor, again not too long a wait, she had a look over his leg and her concern was to rule out any lower leg fracture. She arranged for him to go for an xray - again straight through and the staff were brilliant with him. Back to the treatment room where the doctor came back to advise that there was no apparent injury. By this time my son was tolerating standing on his leg and we were relieved there was no fracture. Free to go but advised if we were still concerned about his walking to call back.
All in we were in the department about an hour and a half. As a parent I felt the whole experience calming and efficient, given I was at a time where I felt vulnerable and helpless for my child.
