I experienced poor practice at LTHT's renal service at Seacroft Hospital. Like many informed intelligent patients, I recognise poor practice when I see it, particularly as my background is adult social care so including CQC requirements / standards of good practice.Because I objected to what I believe was poor practice I was treated as a troublemaker.
Later on I was being dialysed in the Huddersfield renal unit where practice is generally good, self care supported, some good nurses / health care assistants. I'd prepared some information on preserving residual renal function to share with another patient. A nurse physically prevented me from giving him the information saying that it was 'breaching data protection'.
I feel my subsequent complaint was ignored and staff at the unit lied about my making an informal complaint which should have been addressed at unit level.
"My complaint was ignored"
