"Bereavement counselling really helped"

About: Inclusion Matters Sefton

(as the patient),

I had bereavement counselling last year with Keith. It enabled me to deal the blame I placed on myself for the death of my grandmother. It helped me cope with the blame I perceived from my family as well. I was able to work through some of the problems in my relationships with my mother that were making me feel the loss of my grandmother more keenly. Keith was a wonderful support during such a difficult time and even helped me fine material to pass onto my mother to help her also.

I found the service I’m provided incredibly helpful once I was able to access the appropriate care. My GP referred me for bereavement counselling, however I was sent to CBT twice before getting an appropriate appointment. One appointment was with someone I knew from college and we both felt very uncomfortable about it. All the time I was on JSA and these inappropriate appointments wasted time and money I could ill afford.

Overall I would recommend this service as I cannot place a value on it or adequately articulate how much I appreciate what Keith helped me to achieve.
