"3 month lymphoma remission checks"

About: Raigmore Hospital / Clinical haematology

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter was due for her regular 3 month check up during her remission period in early August we had not heard a word so my wife phoned haematology yesterday and was told there is only 1 doctor and they are still going through July's patients and there was no more they could do.

As a family we find this very frustrating and upsetting as we have had a very stressful year and were assured by my daughters consultant that she would be seen every 3 months as part of her follow up programme, and this is not the first time this has happened

Dear Dougie3412

I would like to apologise to you and your daughter for the additional worry these delays are causing you.

I am in the process of checking the specific circumstances regarding around any delays for follow ups. At the very least, however, I would have hoped we would have been able to have provided you with reassurances and some clarity around when your daughter could expect to be seen. It’s very disappointing indeed that we have not managed to be more sensitive to your circumstances. Please do get in touch with me should you wish to discuss further 01463 704722 maimie.thompson@nhs.net

Thank you for bringing this to our attention

Thanks for getting in touch. I have been laising with colleagues and I understand they should have been in touch with you last week and so hopefully things are progressing to your satisfaction. Hope all is well.

Dear Maimie

My daughter got on fine yesterday but I feel without your intervention she would not have been seen so quickly.

It saddens me to think that there are other families like us who are not getting the help they need. Through all of my daughter's treatment the staff have been fantastic, always a smile on their faces and are totally overwhelmed with the workload.

On behalf of all our family thanks very much for your help.
