I went to my gp one morning in mid-February. After being examined I was asked to give blood for tests.
The doctor contacted me at 5:30 pm on same day asking me to go directly to Ayr A&E, they were expecting me. I wasn't to drive and to take an overnight bag.
I got to Ayr at 6:45 pm was told to take a seat and they would tell the urology department I was there. I had been told before going I needed to go on a drip. I had been waiting 3 hours in considerable pain before I was seen and was hearing complaints all around a&e that no beds were available.
I was then seen by a doctor? I had no examination done, was told I was being sent home with antibiotics. Around 20 minutes later the doctor came back and said the hospital had no antibiotics. I was given 2 tramadol and told to contact my GP in the morning to be prescribed antibiotics.
I can't stress the pain I was in. I think my GP did a splendid job but I have to say how extremely let down I feel by Ayr hospital. Totally understaffed and nobody seemed to know anything about patient healthcare. I will be making a complaint to Ayrshire & Arran.
