Very elderly patient with a major heart attack, had previously many times stated that they did not want to live on after such an event.
The surgeon took no notice of the wishes, and indeed, did not even inquire about the patient's wishes. The surgeon operated on the patient.
The patient was forced to live on for a further 4 weeks in great distress, both mentally and physically.
What happened to him was cruel, and beyond common sense and compassion I feel.
