"Waiting times for beds."

About: Manor Hospital

(as the patient),

What could be improved

Waiting times for beds.

Anything else?

My mother was admitted as a non-emergency patient. She and my father had to wait 5 hours in a waiting room before a bed became available. My mother suffers from COPD; she was suffering from a chest infection. She was in pain due to coughing and had a severe headache. She's 69. It's disgraceful that she had to endure this wait.

I am sorry that your mother had to wait for a bed, during her visit to us. Whilst we endeavour to ensure that beds are always available across the site, during periods of high pressure it can result in patients waiting to be admitted to an appropriate area. We regret that this situation may occur and I would like to assure you that we are constantly looking at ways of minimising the time that patients have to wait for any service we provide.

I notice that your comment was posted back in October 2008. As we have only recently been alerted to the post, please accept my apologies for the delayed response.
