"I attended the ENT ward at the ..."

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Birmingham)

(as the patient),

What I liked

I attended the ENT ward at the QE as an Outpatient. The waiting room, toilets and Doctor's office were very clean.

The reception staff were very courteous and the nurses who saw me first were very friendly.

The Doctor listened to what I had to say and answered all my questions. I did feel in a bit of a hurry though, probably due to the delay in the clinic (see below).

I also had to ahve a blood test - the Phlebotomist was friendly and polite and the blood test didn't take long at all.

What could be improved

I was seen 1.5 hours after my appointment time as there was a delay in the clinic. The doctor did apologise for the delay, but I was worrying about when I was going to get seen, especially as I needed to get into work.

It was very busy in the ward, perhaps due to the delay, but everyone did have a seat.

Also, because of all the people in the waiting room, it was difficult to hear when your name was being called.

Anything else?

Generally, it was an okay experience, despite the delay, and I was impressed with all the staff and the cleanliness of the waiting room and the clinical areas.
