I had my second open heart surgery in May 2025 to re-repair my mitral valve at the Royal in Belfast. All the staff I came in to contact with from the surgical team, intensive care, and on the cardiac ward were wonderful. They were so kind and helped me through a difficult time after surgery.
I started cardiac rehabilitation at Whiteabbey hospital in August 2025. The team led by Roisin literally put me back on my feet again. The programme was so beneficial. It included talks on nutrition, pharmacy, and gave myself and the group great advice, support and encouragement all the way through. Roisin, Anne, Ruth and Joanne took great care of us and they really helped in my recovery both physically and mentally. Having this support on Wednesdays and exercise classes with Alan at Ballyearl on Friday afternoons was fun and it helped take the fear away and got us exercising safely. I have now just started phase 4 with Alan at Ballyearl. It’s great to see some of our group again and to see how far we have all come.
I have nothing but praise for the programme and the team. They are wonderful and I will be forever grateful to them.
"Great advice, support and encouragement"
