I have been receiving a lot of tests due to having water retention. After various tests it was identified I had cancer in my bladder lining. I was to come into the seal unit for an operation, this was decided after pre assessment being completed, where I was looked after, having everything explained to me about next steps and felt reassured. It was arranged for a heart specialist nurse to visit me at home who attended frequently until my water retention was resolved.
I received an appointment to attend the seal unit for an operation in October, but after being concerned about the operation it was decided on the day for my own safety not to complete the operation on the day. I was informed a new machine would arrive that would allow me to have the operation whilst still awake and a safer option. Since then I have had no checks or follow up appointments so decided to try and find out more about this machine, I believe it’s called a Tula machine.
After various calls to urology and no answer I managed to contact a urology secretary who has now informed me the machine will not arrive until January and I will receive an appointment then!!! I find this concerning as will it then become February, I feel I have been checked out of the seal unit and that’s it, no follow up appointments, no reassurance, no further checks on the cancer situation. I find this really unsettling especially after the initial information that I would be asked back after four weeks from my original date of operation but have had no further contact, I don’t think this is a good patient experience.
