"Complaint about urgent care"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

I arrived at urgent care at 3pm, asking for an emergency blood test as my GP was worried about the symptoms I was experiencing. At the time of writing this, I am still at the urgent care centre - 14 hours later. There is not much staff, and we are all being left in the dark. Staff keep calling out the same names, knowing these people have either left or have not responded to their name being called multiple times. They have given us no reassurance or answers to our queries. I am just waiting for blood test results, which could easily be done by call. This should not be taking 14 hours! I have now had to take another sick day from work tomorrow, all the while my symptoms are getting worse. This is not what urgent care should look like.

Additionally, security has been a problem too, with addicts sneaking past the workers and helping themselves to pills that have been left out. The staff walked past them multiple times without saying anything or taking any action. This was disgraceful for us patients to watch. Also, a group of a children were causing mayhem and being rude to everyone.

Staff are giving us no answers or any reassurance. The wait should not be this long, and it has really affected my mental health.
