"Effective and efficient"

About: Emergency Medicine / Minor Injuries Unit NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service)

(as the patient),

Jammed right thumb in car door. Had a ‘burst’ injury to end joint. Was advised by medic at scene to get it checked should it be fractured.

Tried calling 111, there was a long wait so instead I walked to our local Minor Injuries clinic.

Waited 3 hours and seen, x-rayed, redressed and discharged very effectively and efficiently. ENO Leanne a ‘star’ as was very knowledgeable and professional.

Dear Aboyne

Thank you for sharing your story on Care Opinion. I was sorry to learn of the injury to your thumb, it sounded very painful!

I note there are a few services tagged to your story, I reply on behalf of NHS 24.

Please accept my apologies for the wait time stated when you attempted to access the 111 service. Unfortunately, due to the demand on our service there are occasions when wait times can be extended, however this is not the experience we wish for our callers and we are working hard trying to reduce this as much as possible. It is great to hear that your onward care at the Minor Injury Unit was both efficient and effective.

Thank you again for sharing your experience, and I wish you speedy recovery.

Best wishes,

Laura
