I recently injured an index finger. But given the extensive waiting times in Antrim and Causeway Hospitals, I decided not to attend and instead opted to strap two fingers together for support. Unfortunately, the injured finger had not healed, was still swollen and painful. As such, I contacted the Phone First Service about making an appointment with Mid-Ulster Minor Injuries Unit. Following the phone call, I had an appointment with the Unit, was examined, x-rayed and treated, and all within the space of 90 minutes.
From the person spoken with on the initial phone call to the person who phoned back to book the appointment, to the receptionist at the Unit, to the nurse and the radiographer - each and every one was first class. I cannot commend highly enough the service, the staff, the treatment and the experience. The staff in the Unit itself were excellent - kind, caring, efficient and professional. The nurse, Heather, who attended to my broken finger was pleasant, reassuring and highly professional.
If I had known how impressive the staff team were at the Mid-Ulster Minor Injuries Unit, I would have arranged to attend immediately upon damaging my hand. Such a service should be better advertised, better known and better utilised. Indeed, such a service cries out to be extended to weekend hours as well as Monday-Friday.
I would like to both commend the staff and publicly thank them for such a wonderful job and for patching me up.
"Kind, caring, efficient and professional"
