"Arriving for CT Scan app. At mobile unit."

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Imaging

(as the patient),

Thank you Nurse Karen(Hairmyres) at Glasgow CT Scan MobileUnit.

What a gem, is nurse Karen, we are blessed in the NHS to have a nurse like you.
My appointment was for 9.30am.
We left Paisley at 7.45am aware of all roadworks en route.
Arriving at hospital 9.50am to find no disabled spaces.
The first warden, was trying to help, no spaces available for wheelchair users.
The hospital warden at mobile CT Scan was livid that my husband parked outside unit to go in and ask for help.
Nurse Karen came outside, she and my husband were trying to solve this all consuming issue.
My husband had heart attack recently with 4 stents and pacemaker, he could not push me the long distance where a space was available into CT Scan. ( who are you going to ask - nurse Karen patients buster) outside in the freezing cold, helped my husband with parking instructions, then pushed me into the reception out of cold.
Then she contacted Main Hospital, as she accessing the situation, knew I could never be facilitated within CT Scan mobile unit.
Once it was confirmed the main hospital rather than cancel my appointment, would slot me in.
My husband and I waited at reception, Karen, still accommodating the rest of the patients to mobile unit, finally  Karen pushed me all the way,
escorting my husband and I all the way through the maze of children’s hospital to main hospital CT Unit.
What a treasure  nurse Karen to our NHS.
The VIP treatment continued, with Nurse Lorraine, and Craig at the CT Scan,  and the lovely young radiology nurse fitting my cannula and caring for me, all kindness personified.
They then radioed Karen to come and take me back. She pushed me all the way back, the only downside, I asked Karen to leave me outside she had done enough, and go and see to her other patients, as my husband would bring the car from the distant away car park. My beloved husband, got lost, the rain came on, I got soaked  waiting outside. Yet, we were both eternally grateful, for the care and kindness received especially Nurse Karen, who helped us two auld foggies wae poor health, a million thank you’s.
Now a wee ode tae Nurse  Karen
Elvis style.
‘Can’t you see what  you do,
You see your patients thru,
that’s  not hard for you,
Cause you do have a caring heart.’
