A few months ago I began vomiting blood at work, I got my husband to pick me up and take me to hospital. I attended A&E where all the staff except 1 member of staff were amazing. I work for the NHS so had my uniform on (obviously) this one member of staff asked me if I didn’t think to change!? Pretty sure when I was terrified I was dying that wasn’t thinking about my clothing. This was one small thing and shouldn’t detract from the rest because everybody else was lovely, so friendly and reassuring.
I was moved to AU2 where I spent 3 days. I know how short staffed these wards are. Not once did I feel this from them. Due to the position of my cannula, when I bent my arm it cut off and left the machine beeping. I had to buzz them to come to fix it, between this and needing to be disconnected for the toilet or them having to come in to take my obs they were in a lot. Not once was I made to feel like I was bothering them. The staff were lovely, very friendly and down to earth. I just want them to know how much I appreciate their reassurance and one of the scariest times in my life. Their hard work and patience didn’t go unnoticed. Thank you all
