"STI Health Check Advised by GP for recurring UTI's"

About: Sexual Health Services - Shropshire (Open Clinic)

(as a service user),

I took a urine sample into my GP surgery last week for symptoms of a UTI, which I am prone too anyway. A GP (Dr. Loveday) rang me Friday afternoon and told me I didn't have a UTI and he suggested that I went to Shropshire's health service for a sexual health screening, which I obviously went along with.

On Monday morning, Dr. Lindsay rang me to explain that I did indeed have a UTI and I was put on a week's course of nitrofurantoin to treat the infection.

I rang the clinic to make sure I was still OK to use their service, due to me having a UTI and they reassured me that I was.

The nurse Serha was very good with me, she was patient, understanding, non-judgemental and very gentle with me during the examination. She explained how the service worked and talked me through the process of drawing the blood and doing the vaginal swab. She made me feel at ease and made me feel more comfortable. She also got a chaperone in the room with us during the examination of doing the vaginal swab and Jess was just as good. Overall the experience was a pleasant one and I'm glad I used the service.
