"Exceptional Maternity Care"

About: Vale of Leven General Hospital / Community Maternity Unit

(as a service user),

When I was 33 weeks pregnant I attended my local antenatal classes provided by Midwife Sarah at the Vale of Leven Community Maternity Unit. During the class I realised that my waters may have started leaking the previous day. After the class had finished, I spoke to Midwife Sarah and she guided me to call Maternity Triage at the RAH to be assessed. I was assessed at the RAH and they confirmed that my waters had started to rupture and a care plan was immediately put in place for my period of admission and for the period following discharge. I was fortunate that I was able to be discharged and for my care to be continued at the Vale of Leven Community Maternity Unit.

The care I received throughout my pregnancy was exceptional but especially the last two weeks of my pregnancy. During this time the midwives prepared me for the unknown of having a preterm baby. They answered all questions myself and my husband had. We felt heard and well supported by all the Midwives and Doctor Jadhav. The Midwives at the unit are professional, compassionate and approachable.
