"My dad falling & unable to get up"

About: East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance Urgent Community Response / Mid Notts Urgent Community Response Team

(as a relative),

My dad fell using his zimmer frame around 6.30am today. He used his lifeline who called the ambulance & then called me. I arrived at 7.00am & spoke to the ambulance service who said they were going to do a referral to the Urgent Community Response service. At around 9.00am the ambulance service called again & after checking that dad didn’t need an ambulance but would be referred to the Urgent Response Service, I mentioned he had already been referred but she didn’t know that so presumably the original referral wasn’t completed as Gudrun & Di diverted to dads as soon as the second referral was made. Dad had been on the floor for 4 hours when Gudrun & Di arrived & was very uncomfortable. They were brilliant with him, checked him thoroughly & listened to him. They were cheerful & knowledgeable, getting him carefully back into his armchair. He was so pleased to be upright & back to normal, they made him a hot drink & had a chat with him, checking everything was ok. We would both like to thank them very, very much.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of our service. We will ensure Gudrun and Di are made aware of your kind words. We hope dad is recovering well.

With best wishes,
