"He demonstrated an incredible degree of care and compassion"

Following a sudden decline in my partner's health, I was able to obtain an emergency appointment with Dr Coats who works from the Logan practice within the Houldsworth Centre, Wishaw. My partner had been demonstrating increasing periods of low moods and had become withdrawn and uncommunicative.

Dr Coats carried out a very comprehensive examination of my partner during which time he demonstrated an incredible degree of care and compassion. Dr Coats subsequently prescribed medication based on his preliminary findings and available medical evidence. He informed us that he would schedule another appointment in order to assess if any progress had been made.

At the next appointment, I was able to inform Dr Coats that while my partner's mood had lifted, she was now experiencing mobility issues. Dr Coats at this point carried out a neurological examination, again with great care and precision. In view of his findings, Dr Coats set in motion a series of events which ultimately resulted with my partner's speedy referral to the Stroke Unit at Monklands Hospital, whereupon a CT scan revealed a brain tumour. This was later successfully removed.

My partner and I have no doubt that the initial examination and insightful interpretation of her illness by Dr Coats was a massive factor in her continuing recovery.

His determination in obtaining an informed diagnosis and treatment plan should be greatly commended.
