"Wards and medication"

About: Outpatients Department / Diabetes & Endocrinology Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Accident & Emergency Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Diabetic Medicine

(as the patient),

I was meant to get some more insulin as I'm type1 diabetic and only got 2 units, not satisfactory at all, I was left with higher blood sugars.

I never got my pain meds on time, extra couple hours on that, then getting moved multiple wards until I get put in one where someone thought we were all in their living room. I was meant to get picked up to get taken for a MRI, they never came.

I feel more ill and had to discharge myself now might be close it the end.

Dear Branmg88

Thank you for taking the time to share your story. Firstly, I want to echo Michelle’s response and express my apology for your experience.

In addition to Michelle’s response it sounds as though you remain in pain and ill. Can I suggest you don’t lose hope and to continue to try and seek out medical care that may be able to relieve or lessen your symptoms and pain. I would recommend you consider reaching out to your GP practice or NHS 24 (telephone 111). They will be able to assess some of the difficulties you are experiencing and refer you on to the relevant service, who can carry out the necessary tests or provide required treatment.

Please don’t lose hope in what is a very difficult time. I am hopeful there is care available to support you.

Kind regards,

Mariska
