I recently had my first child at Ayrshire Maternity unit and was blown away with the care given by the staff, I wanted to thank them for all of their assistance. During pregnancy my midwife Kelly was very understanding of my needle phobia and put things in place to assist me with this. Carole was also very understanding when taking my bloods. I appreciate all their help and support.
I opted for a c section delivery due to predicted size of my baby. This was a hard decision for me due to my needle phobia but on the day the staff on shift really helped me .
The obstetrician Dr Gibson spoke to me prior to the procedure and made me feel more comfortable. The staff in theatre that day Skye the anaesthetics nurse did a great job talking to me through out the procedure and helped keep me calm along with the consultant anaesthetist Dr Martin Watson ( apologise if this is not his correct name ).
One person completely stood out for me on the day and without her I don’t think I would have got through the c section was Dr Sharda. Prior to meeting Dr Sharda on the morning of my planned C section I was very apprehensive and worked up, I was very worried about having the spinal. Dr Sharda explained the spinal to me and tried to understand my concerns around the spinal. I found her very reassuring and can’t thank her enough for the assistance on the day. She was completely professional throughout and I think she deserves recognition as prior to the c section I thought it was going to be a very traumatic experience but with all the assistance from the staff I have lots of positive things to say about it.
The care we received in the ward after was also amazing, all of the staff were fantastic , in particular Midwives Heather and Lynsey assisted us as we were having issues feeding our baby and all of the support team on the ward were great as well.
We can’t thank the full team enough for the way they looked after us and we are very grateful for the care we received.
