"Compliment and Thanks for Excellent Care"

About: Dorset County Hospital / Accident and emergency Dorset County Hospital / General surgery South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / NHS 111

(as the patient),

I wanted to express my sincere thanks for the excellent care I received. In the early hours, I contacted NHS 111 thinking I had a relatively minor issue that could be resolved with antibiotics. However, the 111 handler triaged my symptoms and referred me to the duty doctor.

Both the 111 handler and the doctor listened carefully to my symptoms, and the on-call GP was sent to assess me at home within the hour. After examining me, the GP suspected appendicitis and referred me directly to the on-call surgical team at Dorchester Hospital. When I arrived at A&E, I was seen promptly, and my appendix was removed. I was discharged the following day with no complications.

I’m now fully recovered and extremely grateful for the thorough, efficient, and compassionate care I received at every stage. Please could you pass on my thanks to NHS 111 staff, on-call GP and Dorchester Hospital Surgical staff involved in my care. Also, there was a recovery nurse who took the time to speak to my partner (who was also a patient at the hospital at the time) to let her know I was ok after my surgery. She really appreciated that!
