"Positive maternity care"

Thank You to the brilliant midwives at Dumfries & Galloway Royal infirmary and to our local community midwives at Annan.

I have recently given birth to our first baby in September after an induction due to consistent reduced movements. Due to the reduced movements I was monitored for a number of weeks both with our community midwives and through the consultant led clinics at Dumfries hospital.

We cannot thank any member of staff enough for the time, care and compassion each and everyone has given myself and my partner on the run up to welcoming our little girl.

The team of midwife’s which induced me and welcomed our little girl into the world were absolutely incredible and we can not thank them enough, unfortunately due to a complication after labour I needed to go to surgery under general anaesthetic, this could have been a very daunting time for both myself and my partner but the whole situation was the most memorable and was handled with such professionalism even helping my partner once they had gone back to the ward with ensuring him and our daughter were both OK, and assisting with her first change and feed in my absence.

During my early induction process and the delivery of our little girl. I was extremely lucky to have a student midwife, Shannon. Shannon was an absolute joy to have to induce me in the early stages she was everything you would want from a midwife, and we were extremely lucky to have Shannon to deliver our baby girl to the world.

We cannot thank her enough and she will always hold a special memory with us and is already a fantastic midwife and will be a credit to any hospital after her studies. Beth, who also was on shifts before and during my induction also is an absolute credit to Dumfries & Galloway Royal infirmary nothing was ever to much hassle or problem even though she was consistently very busy, she made time for both myself and my partner and was very consistent and concise and made my whole experience of requiring surgery and the recovery a calm and pleasant experience.

We never got to thank everyone before we left so please do pass on our thanks to all but especially to Shannon and Beth who both really do deserve a special mention.
