"Tremendous support"

About: Care at Home / Care at Home Ayr South

(as a staff member posting for a carer/relative),

I would just like to thank Gaynor and all her team for the help and support they have given to Jannette (Ena) over the last couple of months or so.  She sadly passed away at the end of September.

The care she was given in her last few weeks were tremendous and appreciated so much not only by Ena herself, but also by me. It was a comfort to me knowing that she was being cared for so well. I cannot praise sufficiently all the girls that supported us particularly Lindsay and Bronwen, Heather and Leigh-ann and Natalie and Julie. You are all Angels in my book!  She was very happy in everything you did for her, making her as comfortable as possible in her last few days. Without your careful compassion her last few weeks at home would not have been successful, or even possible. It had always been her wish to die at home and you helped achieve that in a calm and peaceful manner. I'm not sure if they realised this, but on the morning Ena passed away, Natalie and Julie were literally five minutes out the house. She was very peaceful and slipped away quietly with no pain or distress - Just what we had always hoped for her.

So once again I thank you all so much for your help and support.  To you Gaynor, I must apologies for "nipping your brain" from time to time when little problems arose. You were always so patient, efficient and able to sort things out.

Kind Regards.

Hi,

Thank you so much for taking your time to share your story with us, We really appreciate your kind words. Firstly, I am so sorry for your loss, Ena will be fondly remembered. I am pleased to hear our team were able to help in a small way to fulfil her wishes in being able to die at home peacefully. The carers are a credit to our team, and I will ensure your gratitude is passed on to them, I will also add this to our newsletter. I am sure Lindsay and Bronwen, Heather and Leigh-Ann and Natalie and Julie will be delighted to hear how much they have made a difference to yourself and Ena in her final days. Ensureing Ena was comfortable in her final days is such an honor! I agree they are Angels!

I will pass on your comments to Natalie and Julie as I don't think they were aware of this.

And to Gaynor - I have spoken to her and she advises you were not "nipping her brain" she was doing her job and advises it was a pleasure to sort things out for you both.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this with us, especially at this difficult time.

Take care,

Claire
