"They always made sure we were ok and had everything"

Our beautiful little girl was born mid Aug 24 at Bassetlaw hospital. We have nothing but praise for our amazing midwife Lindsay.

My labour happened very quickly for a first baby, and initially on attending the Labour ward was told to return home due to only being 1cm dilated as per protocol. I didn’t feel as though I could return home due to the pain I was in and how regular and close my contractions were. Lindsay was like our angel in the lights, she appeared out of no where, took her time to listen to my concerns and took action.

She took my up to the Labour ward immediately to give pain relief despite only being 1cm. By the time we did she short walk to the delivery room, I went from 1cm to 10cm and was ready to deliver my baby.

It was a scary time, but Lindsay kept me calm, assured me and acted quickly but calmly.

No less than seconds later we had everyone we needed in the room ready to go. I remember her saying that let’s have a baby and my response was what right now? In shock because it was all so quickly. My little girl arrived in 27 minutes, meaning my whole labour from beginning to end was less than 2 hours. Lindsay never left my side, constantly reassured me, and most of all listened to me, and what I wanted.

The healthcare (apologies I cannot remember her name) was absolutely amazing post labour, helping me get in the bath to get clean, down to even having to undress me and wash me as I lost too much blood, I was completely zoned and struggling to stand. If Lindsay hadn’t of listened to us initially, our baby would have been born in the car, and that alone is a scary thought with no help available to myself and my partner.

The post labour care was above expectation, and they always made sure we were ok and had everything we needed.
