"Exceptional maternity care"

About: Maternity care / 2 West Maternity Maternity care / Delivery suite Maternity care / Maternity Admission/Assessment Unit

(as a service user),

I had my baby girl on Easter Sunday and it was honestly a beautiful experience. I can't thank the staff at CAH maternity unit enough. A couple of folks to mention in particular.

Firstly Anne at the assessment unit - she had seen me the week prior as I attended with a headache and needed observing due to a diagnosis of preeclampsia - she was so thorough and reassuring and didn't make me feel silly for coming down. She was on duty the Saturday night I went into labour and was again so helpful and thorough and also very clear and direct with what was happening re dilation and progress of labour which I appreciated.

Kerry - Kerry was with us throughout my labour and delivery in the delivery suite and she was so helpful, reassuring and communicative with what was happening. My husband is hard of hearing and found her very helpful at directing communications to him, speaking clearly and facing him so he could hear.

Alana - it's a while ago now but I have Alana's name written down, I think she came on duty towards the end of the labour. Things must have got hazy as I don't remember much but you must have been amazing if I wrote your name down so thank you Alana!

Dr Khan - we love Dr Khan! This is the second time he has been an angel to us. He delivered our son in 2021 via emergency section and did my stitches this time around. He was also with me during my consultant led care during pregnancy. He is professional, thorough, skilled and extremely communicative and reassuring. We owe him a lot.

All the staff on 2 west were so kind to us - I believe Heather was the midwife on duty and she was so lovely and kind while we were awaiting discharge.

Thank you so much to everyone who made our experience so positive and special and for keeping us all safe and well.
