"Social story for NG tube"

(as a parent/guardian),

We had multiple appointments to try and get my child’s NG tube passed but due to anxiety we haven’t managed. I was searching for a Social story but the only one I found was for a cancer patient and this wasn’t appropriate for us. I met Jo from Communication Friendly at a parents info session and loved the work they do. I explained our situation and Jo had a social story ready for us by the time we were leaving. Communication Friendly in South Ayrshire has been so beneficial to our family I wish the Glasgow hospital had something similar.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us via Care Opinion.

I am sorry to hear that you have been experiencing such difficulties when trying to get your child’s NG tube passed due to their anxiety. I can only imagine how discouraging this must have been for you

It is however great to know that the staff in the Communication Friendly Team have been able to help by developing a social story for you. We are receiving so many lovely comments about project and how it is helping with communication for all ages and it’s great to know that it has been so beneficial to you and your family.

Our staff really appreciate receiving feedback about the services they provide and it will be my pleasure to share your lovely feedback with the Speech and Language Team and with Jo in particular.
