Our son is non verbal and uses a mix of AAC, makaton, visual and pecs to communicate. Recently Jo got in touch to say there was a project starting to ensure communication was accessible for all. Jo has been to lots of local business and this has allowed us to venture out more confidently. Local restaurants: our son has been able to communicate and order his own food and drinks, ask for toilets and pay the bill. Our local swimming pool has a communication board to allow him to communicate while in the swimming pool where we cannot take his AAC. Social stories for our local A&E and most recently our own doctors surgery have also got on board. This is a massive help for our son as he hides pain and sickness. Jo has done an amazing job at asking what we need and where we most need it and expanding our son's independence
