"Accepting a life changing diagnosis"

About: Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust

(as a service user),

Referred by my Occupational Therapist who felt that I was ready to become more accepting and to work with my diagnosis. I was fortunate to have Natalie as my therapist from Day1.

I liked that we talked about my situation, I got upset initially discussing my diagnosis and how it had happened but Natalie was very supportive throughout our sessions.

We discussed some very big issues for me such as my guilt that getting Multiple Sclerosis was my fault, my needing so much help from my husband and family etc etc and through each session Natalie helped me to work through all the anxieties I had, and face up to the challenges MS brings.

I had homework which I found really thought provoking but it definitely helped me working through my goals, my statements and my requirements

I was very sceptical before the course but I can say with confidence that it helped me so very much and I feel grateful for the support I’ve had from Natalie and the team

Good morning MSLady,

My name is Faye, I'm the Clinical Lead at Rotherham Talking Therapies. I'm so sorry for the very late response, I've been trying behind the scenes to figure out which team your wonderful feedback applies to! I think it might be us, but I'm just waiting for a clinician to come back from annual leave so I can make sure that's the therapist you worked with.

Once I've worked out where to assign your feedback I'll return so I can respond properly, I hope that's okay. Thank you so much for this feedback, for RDaSH as a whole it's truly amazing to see how impactful your work with Natalie has been. I'll speak to you soon!

Kindest regards,

Faye

Clinical Lead
