"Amazing care by Paediatric team in DHH"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Daisy Paediatric Ward

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter is only 13months... but in the last year, she has had 5 admissions with Bronchiolitis. Each time she has generally had to stay in for 5 nights and the care she has received each and every time has been second-to-none. I couldn't fault any of the staff, they have always treated her so well, and done whats been best for her. She has had to get a range of treatments... including bloods, IV fluids, tube-fed, oxygen (nasal prongs & mask), nebulisers, inhalers and high-flow to name a few.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank all the staff on the Paediatric ward for the tireless work each and every time. They have always listened when I voiced my concerns, and listened and answered my questions. If there have been any questions they didnt know the answer to, they always asked someone else and came back to me promptly.

We are currently still on the ward (currently day 3) but she was also admitted at the end of July - which was over her 1st birthday... the staff then arrived in with a 'birthday present' for her and she was delighted with her new singing duplo blocks- brand new in the packaging.

It had only been 6 weeks since she'd last been admitted. (Middle of June) but each time, the team had the same level of excellence in their service and care given. They are a credit to the hospital.

I wish I could name each of the staff by name, but at this stage, I feel like we've probably been cared for by the majority of the team and I'd be afraid to leave some of them out 🙈 and again, the level of care has been fantastic by all.
They have always been so kind, so thoughtful and helpful and kept me at ease knowing I was in the right place to get my baby well again. So, thank you.

Hi Mummy Mc,

Thankyou so much for taking the time to provide this wonderful feedback, especially at this stressful time when your daughter still remains on the children's ward. We are delighted to hear about the excellent care your child has received from our team. They will be delighted to hear this.

Any hospital stay is a stressful time for both child and family, never mind over your daughters 1st birthday. We take great pleasure in making hospital stays for children a pleasant experience and we were delighted to be able to provide your daughter with a gift she would enjoy on her birthday.

I will be delighted to share this feedback with my team.

I hope your daughter is on the road to recovery and that you are on the count down to discharge to home.

Regards;

Sharon
