"Thankful for the staff"

About: Western General Hospital / Medical Assessment Unit

(as the patient),

Overall a terrible, painful experience due to the sheer inefficiency of the systems. Ended up in more pain and discomfort than when entered. Largely ignored apart from the exceptional care given by 2 members of staff.

Angel got a recliner to help relieve the severe back pain after sitting on a wheelchair for an hour and a half.  He checked with me regularly and demonstrated an above level of care and compassion.  I would ask you to pass on my grateful thanks.  The other member of staff who is like a breath of fresh air is Danielle. Her caring and patience is above average and provided support during a very painful uncomfortable 5 hour experience.

The staff work incredibly hard but the systems they are asked to operate under would not be tolerated in any other profession, in my view.

This was not a particularly busy or crowded time but the amount of paperwork required far outweighed clinical examinations.  Thankful for the 2 mentioned staff members.

Hi Aussiesue

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback about your experience.

I hear your frustrations about the systems and understand the impact this has with patient experience. The team work incredibly hard to over come the pressures within the service and I am delighted to hear two staff in particular went above and beyond to make your time in the department more comfortable.

We continually review services and systems to ensure they work as effectively and efficiently as possible. This feedback will be taken on board. The positive feedback will also be shared with the individuals and the Care Opinion team have kindly put together certificates for us to present to them. Patient care and experience is at the core of our roles and for the individuals to receive such praise will be incredibly meaningful and emotive.

Thank you for your honesty and time with this.

Many thanks.
