"I will miss you terribly"

About: Children & Young People Physical Health / Children's Epilepsy Bassetlaw

(as a service user),

My son has just transitioned to adults....and my goodness I want to come back to childrens services already !!! After being there so long people got to know us...and they knew if I rang them we were in trouble as I never called about trivial matters. Id get a call the same day which was so reassuring.....and now I have to start all over again with new people who don't know us....its exhausting but I'm sure we'll get there.

Big shout out to Gemma who has been fabulous !! She looked after us and was always there when I needed help/advice. She also organised a 'transition' period with the adult epilepsy nurse before handover....it has been an enormous(!) help. My son is very complex and a handover was very much needed....the adult nurse got to know us whilst Gemma was still on board...so everyone got gently introduced which I'm sure helped them....it certainly did for me. So thank you Gemma....for everything you've done...I will miss you terribly :(

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to share such lovely feedback. It is such a big transition to move from children's to adult services and we appreciate how impactful this can be on families. I am thrilled to hear how useful the transition period has been in supporting this change and how you were given time to get to know the adult team prior to leaving Gemma's care.

Transition is something we are always striving to improve and get right for families, so your feedback really supports this.

It is pleasing to hear how supportive and caring your experience has been with Gemma and I hope that this continues for you.

Best Wishes

Sam Rooksby - Team Lead - Children's Long Term Conditions
