"I cannot express how fantastic all the staff were"

About: Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic National Treatment Centre

(as the patient),

After having waited a considerable time on a replacement hip, I was offered an opportunity for surgery at the NTC Kirkcaldy, although from Edinburgh.

The pre-op was carried out in a friendly, efficient manner and I felt I wasn't left sitting about for any longer that needed. I wish to talk about my day of surgery more though.

I am a bit of a control freak and was extremely anxious about my surgery. On the day, from my arrival just after seven until my departure the same day about 7.30.  I cannot express how fantastic all the staff were.

Unfortunately I cannot remember all the names but to a person everyone was fantastic. Whilst anxious everyone read the room with myself and were engaging and showed true empathy with me.

I didn't know what to expect but the manner in which the staff went about their jobs made the whole experience that bit easier. Everyone seemed to have a smile at the right moment.

Can I say a huge thank you from me for making a huge deal for me that wee bit easier.

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback following your recent surgery, undertaken at the National Treatment Centre. We appreciate all patient feedback received, as this allows the NTC team to learn and improve the service. We aim to put all patients at the centre of decision making. Therefore, patient feedback is very useful in shaping our service delivery.

Attending for surgery can be a daunting experience. Therefore, as a team we aim to work together to ensure care provided is person centred, ensuring patients choices are respected and valued. We hope to maintain good communication throughout a patients journey, to ensure patients are kept fully informed, actively listened to and supported. Hence, it is great to know that you felt staff conducted themselves in a professional manner, assessing your needs and provided reassurance when required.

I am so pleased to know that the NTC helped to make your experience less stressful and more enjoyable.

I will share your feedback with the National Treatment Centre team and I am sure they will be delighted to know that you found them to be fantastic! Thank you.

I wish you all the best for your future recovery following your hip replacement.

Take care,

Briony Klos
