"The team were fantastic"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Neonatal Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

My waters broke at 32 weeks and I was admitted to CAH. In this time Neonatal team came and spoke to both my husband and myself reassuring us and giving us insight into what our journey once our baby was born could be like.

I was able to keep our baby in the womb for another 18 days and she was born at 34+5. Again we were reassured that members of the Neonatal Team would be at her birth and support her in all ways needed. The team were fantastic and she was supported from the moment she was born.

Our baby spent just over two weeks in the care of the Neonatal team and they were nothing short of amazing. Each member of the team who cared for her treated her as their own and were always more than happy to answer any questions and explain processes etc.

When we had small changes in the journey there came alongside us and encouraged and empathised on the journey of getting our baby home. The service of transitional time was a great opportunity as it gave us a taste of home and being independent but we knew there was still help close by if needed.

We met so many amazing mummys and daddys during our time whose journeys were much harder than ours, but there is a real sense of community in Craigavon Neonatal.

We met so many of the team but special mention to Emma-Jayne, Sharon, Lyndsey, Jill, Elaine, Niamh, Eimear, Katie, Daniel, Donal, Danielle and Julie who cared for our baby in the Nursery and the ICU team of India and Louisa who cared for our baby as soon as she was born.

Thank you Blakely556 for taking the time to provide this lovely feedback about your experiences of our neonatal unit in Craigavon Hospital. I am really pleased to hear that your daughter received the care that she needed and that you were kept informed about her care by the neonatal team and they showed you empathy and supported you during you and your daughter's journey in the neonatal unit.

I know that the nurses you have mentioned will be grateful for the recognition that you have given them and I will let them know of your gratitude.

I wish you and your family all the best. David

Dear Blakely556

Thank you for taking the time to post your story about your experience of Neonatal Care,

It is lovely to hear your feedback on your whole journey from pre birth, communication and meeting staff, right through to the use of transitional care in preparation for home.

Having other parents around you with their own experience in Neonatal hopefully meant you as parents did not feel " alone" on this journey

I will share your comments with our team and thank you once again for taking time to do this

Regards

Una
