"Offering a caring ear and support to help me"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I was part of the lucky few who were assigned Kirsty as a community midwife. She listened and understood previous birth trauma, offering a caring ear and support to help me get over this for my second birth.

Throughout my pregnancy there were plenty twists and turns, that she coached me through to help me make my own decisions and choices.  This support helped me to make decisions about my birth that I never though imaginable.

On our first visit after my son was born she genuinely wanted to hear about my birth story which was exactly what I needed at the time, helping me to comprehend the birth.

This support and listening ear has helped me to have the best first few weeks any new parent could ask for.

I could not be more grateful for Kirsty!!

Hi jivegd89,

Congratulations on the birth of your son.

I am sorry to read that you experienced trauma following the birth of your first child, however I am delighted to hear that you felt listened to and well cared for by your community midwife both during pregnancy and following the birth of your baby.

It is also really encouraging to hear that you felt empowered to make decisions about your care.

We all wish you and your family all the best with your new baby.
