"Waiting times"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / General Surgery University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma and Orthopaedics (14- 16)

(as a service user),

I have been on a waiting list for 123 weeks, that's 2 years 4 months, for prolapse surgery. I was advised in May 2022 that the waiting list would be 12 months. I was then told 18 months & then 2 years. The waiting times seem to change every time I ask.

I struggle on a daily basis with pain and embarrassment due to my condition and feel extremely let down by the NHS & lack of care I have received.  I would like to know at what point the waiting list initiative is applied.

Dear Tracey1980

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience. I am sorry to hear of the long waiting time you have experienced and of the impact it is having on your daily life.

To help us investigate your own experience could I ask you to contact the Patient Affairs staff at

PatientAffairs.Wishaw@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk

Tel no 01698 366 558

This will allow us to look into your referral and provide you with an update on the current waiting times.

Thank you for your response.

I have already been communicating with patient affairs via email, I haven't been able to get a time scale of when my surgery would be scheduled but have been advised I'm not a candidate to be transfered to a different hospital due to type of surgery I would need. No other explanation of why.
