"Vomiting throughout pregnancy"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I am only 15 weeks and was sick every 20 mins , was dehydrated and had 3+ketones in my urine sample.

Called ward 3 about half 6am and was advised to come in for them to look me over and get anti emetics injected for the vomiting. The midwifes were lovely as always. But..

On my last pregnancy i had this and was giving lucozade sport while being on the drip and anti sickness, it helped me get hydrated a lot faster.

Maybe adding lucozade sports to ward 3 would help out so many dehydrated pregnant women.

Thank you for sharing your experience of receiving care on ward 3. I am pleased to hear that not only were you treated promptly for your nausea and vomiting in pregnancy, but also that you found the midwives who cared for you to be lovely.

We do not currently have Lucozade Sport available to us on the ward, although there is a selection of diluting juice and fresh fruit juices available. Patients are also able to bring their own food and drink on to the ward, or have a family member do this for them, and we would usually encourage patients experiencing vomiting to bring in whatever they feel might help them start tolerating food and drink.

I hope the nausea and vomiting has now subsided and that the rest of your pregnancy is healthy and enjoyable.
