"Smear test drop in clinic"

About: Barnstaple Health Centre / Barnstaple Sexual Health

(as a service user),

Amazing service, makes an unpleasant thing a bit easier to do. No need to take time out of the work day for an appointment that has to be awkwardly explained.

Dear kiloht88

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback about the Barnstaple sexual health service. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to access sexual health testing and swabs, and it's good to hear you had a great experience when you attended.

A cervical smear test is slightly different to sexual health testing and this is offered in England to women and people with a cervix aged over 25 years. We are not usually able to offer access to routine cervical smear tests at the sexual health clinic, so if you are reading this and have been invited by letter to attend for a smear, the best way to get this arranged is to book an appointment via your GP or Practice Nurse. You can also access the Smear drop in clinic at Petter Ward, on Tuesdays between 5.30pm - 7pm. If you are not sure about the differences between infection testing and smear tests, please visit here for more information: https://www.devonsexualhealth.nhs.uk/contraception/smear-test/

Kind regards

Sally
