After waiting almost a year for a surgical appointment for a laporoscopy to deal with my endometriosis, I finally received an appointment for the beginning of January 2023. Having had no interim care and knowing my condition has significantly worsened, I was relieved to start the new year knowing I would be able to start living my life again and begin IVF.
Just as I was leaving my pre-op at the end of December, I was phoned to be told the op was being cancelled and they would be in touch. I was contacted a week later to say the lists were now closed and I would not be getting my surgery in January. Having chased this up at the end of January with my consultant's secretary, I was told the lists were still not open.
I am now in constant pain due to this condition, I have no quality of life and there seems to be no consideration from NHS management to keep us informed of the status of lists etc, unless we chase this up. The toll on my mental health has been horrendous and while I wait there is no interim care to see if patients are getting worse or improving.
My GP has written to the consultant but receives responses that keep on the same medication that is no longer working. If wait times are this long, surgery gets cancelled with no rescheduling there then must be better interim care, as my condition has worsened with this lack of treatment.
"Operation cancelled, no interim care"
