Two weeks ago I had a heart attack at home at 9am. I dialled 999 and a paramedic was with me within 5 minutes, I wasat immediately diagnosed and an ambulance arrived very shortly afterwards. As far as I was aware they liaised with the hospital who new what to expect and I was consequently received, again diagnosed and whisked into theatre where an angioplasty was successfully performed. By MD I was sitting up in bed, feeling well and eating lunch!! Throughout the whole experience I cannot find words to express the exemplary controlled and perfected actions of all concerned with saving my life. From the first paramedic, the ambulance crew, the reception and theatre nurses and doctors and the aftercare were faultless. Clearly a well designed and practised set of procedures. Please give my thanks and gratitude to all departments concerned for whom I have the greatest admiration. Well done NNUH. One other issue - the same level of care was given during the course of my colonoscopy one year ago so this is not a 'one off'.
