"Cancelled operation"

About: Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

My husband is waiting for prostate day surgery, he has had two appointments cancelled the day before he was due to go in for his procedure meaning I have to cancel the arranged transport and dog sitter at short notice.

Last year he had a basal cell carcinoma removed from his nose, he had a follow up appointment arranged for January 2017 but this was cancelled and no new appointment given, we actually received a phone call at the end of July asking if he would like to attend the hospital for his check up, as the nose had completely healed being that it was almost a year since the op, we declined the offer.

I think it's about time this hospital got its act together

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding. I am sorry to hear that your husband has had appointments cancelled at short notice for his prostate procedure, and also that he did not receive a follow up appointment for the previous surgery to remove a basal cell carcinoma.

With regard to the cancelled appointments; I appreciate that the short notice was not only frustrating but also caused disruption to the plans that you had made. I am not able to explain why the procedures were cancelled without knowing more details about your husband, but I would be more than happy to try and find out for you if you would like to contact me either by phone on 01305 254786, or via email at becky.protopsaltis@dchft.nhs.uk

Once again, please accept my apologies for your frustrating experience at what I'm sure is an anxious time for both your husband and yourself.

Best wishes,

Becky Protopsaltis
