"Ward experience"

About: Acute and urgent care / Inpatient wards

(as a service user),

Ward 3 on Springfield is a nice ward physically- there is outdoor space and it is decorated well. But in terms of treatment my experience was appalling. I found it to be very hierarchical and the doctors were very patronising and bullying and it felt like they dehumanise you. I didn't think there were enough Healthcare assistants or people who actually spend time with the patients and I had no involvement in my own care/making decisions, even when the advocates get involved- the doctors don't listen to them. Out of all the wards I've ever been on this one is the worst experience because the doctors made me feel utterly worthless and like I might as well give up trying to get well at all.

Dear B-user,

Many thanks for taking the time to post about your experience with our services, namely Ward 3.

I am sorry that you found the Dr's patronising and bullying and that there were not enough staff to talk to patients. It is disappointing to read that you were not involved in decisions about your care.

I will pass your comments onto the Clinical Director of the service line and all the relevant managers, so your comments can be addressed.

If you would like to make a formal complaint about your experience on Ward 3, please don't hesitate to contact the Patient Experience Team either by email (complaintsmanager@swlstg-tr.nhs.uk) or on 020 3513 6150.

Many thanks

Claire
