"Repeatedly cancelled operation."

About: Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust

(as the patient),

I am due to have a minor operation. I attended a preop appointment and my operation was scheduled for a week later in Ormskirk. A few days later I was contacted to be told that the original date was cancelled and would be rearranged for either 5 or 20 days after the original date, and that I would be contacted.

In the event, I was contacted stating that they could not do either but I had an appointment for the following month. This was subsequently cancelled and a new appointment two weeks later still was set up.

However, I was then contacted to say there had been a cancellation for the next day and could I come in. I agreed. At 5pm on the same day, I received another call to say that the surgeon had reviewed my notes and the operation could not be done at Ormskirk and should be done at Southport. A new date was once again arranged. The day before, I was contacted to say they were having bed problems and I should start fasting etc. at 11pm but not come in, but wait by my phone at home and wait to be called in if they could fit me in. At 12. 30 on the day of the operation I was called to say they couldn't do the operation due to bed shortage. I am still awaiting a new date.

Aside from the general stress of this, this time of year is a social time with events having to be booked and paid for in advance. I have had to miss three events because I couldn't commit. I suffer from depression anyway and this is making it far worse. I don't know what I can do.
